Designed in 1950, the Wall Sofa exemplifies Finn Juhl’s inspiration from the free art movement of his era, as well as his boundary-crossing ambition to defy gravity and create a sense of movement. Its uniquely asymmetrical, excessively upholstered backrest almost floats like a cloud by René Magritte above the also levitating seat carried by an almost invisible frame. The sofa is upholstered by hand in Denmark in textile. The painted frame in a powder coated steel tube is mounted to the wall, hence the name of the sofa.
