The Mathaar chair features a brass sheet handcrafted by a craft-community called the Thatheras. This craft is dying because these beautiful brass vessels have become redundant over time. We worked with the few craftspeople still practicing the craft to develop this collection. Our intention was to preserve and revivie the craft and its legacy, by re-envisioning the skills in new forms, as furniture. The brass components in this collection are handcrafted. The elements are also handcrafted from reclaimed teak from demolished traditional Pol houses in Gujarat.
